My dad was a small dairy farmer. He milked on average, approximately 50 cows twice a day, 365 days a year. The only time I remember my dad taking off was when he had back problems and was literally bed fast for a few months. Only then did he allow someone else to milk the cows. After writing my first post, I was brainstorming about what to write about next. I knew I wanted to include a recipe that I had just made and I immediately remembered this picture (above) of me at about 3-4 years old with our chickens. As you can tell the picture quality is poor because we didnt have the digital photography back then as we do now, however as you can see I was quite at home with those chickens. Lately my Facebook memories have been showing me pictures of vacations I’ve taken to Florida. They are such fun memories filled with so much laughter! I’ll never forget the first time I saw The Gulf – I had just graduated from high school and a group of friends and myself flew down to Florida for a week to visit my cousin, it was the BEST, she took us straight from the airport to the beach. I had never seen so much water and blue sky meet; it created a never ending horizon that was simply amazing! Stormy weather often makes for a great opportunity to get some great photos. We had a good thunderstorm roll through this morning; thankfully it wasn’t strong enough to cause any damage – it looked more bad ass (excuse my language) than it really was. My better half was on his way to work and was able to snap these two images. I was a little bummed that I was stuck in our our neighborhood at the time – you can’t see anything but tree tops from our front window. Maybe next time I’ll be able to sneak away and get some shots of the next good thunderstorm, but for now I’ll enjoy these beauties...…Stormy weather often makes for a great opportunity to get some great photos. Fall is in the air, and I’m trying my best to hold onto it for as long as I can; meteorologists keep saying that we’re going to have a long Winter which means any day now we can expect Fall to be over and Winter to begin. One of my favorite things to do when the air turns crisp is to bake and to cook. My Grandma Sugar’s apple pie is a must! I was lucky enough to score some free apples from one of the ladies at work and knew immediately that I would be making my grandmother’s pie recipe. This recipe means so much to me; it’s a reminder of so many fond memories while growing up. Last year I helped my Aunt update her fireplace mantel. Before we started on the mantel, she had some maintenance done on her 30 year old gas fireplace. One of the fixes was to replace the fireplace glass. I couldn’t believe the difference that new glass made, her fireplace looks brand new. That got me looking at how dirty my gas fireplace glass looks. The white haze almost made it so we couldn’t see the logs.
