Several months ago our mom found a listing for an old hospital that had been converted into apartments in Spring Grove, MN. Having been deep in the world of ancestry research for a while, she had been wanting someplace that represented her roots (our parents moved from Minnesota to the DFW area about six years ago). So, anyway, they closed on the hospital yesterday and it’s ready to be converted to a vacation home/guest house. It needs a new room, new windows, possibly a new heater/radiators, and some touch-ups to the stucco. I literally laughed out loud when I saw an article reporting the news. And before you start doubting, this actually happened and made it into Weibo’s Hot Searches on 16 August. Tencent took it upon themselves to declare on Weibo that: “The wedding was crashed by everyone. We’re fixing the problem at full speed right now.” I guess not only the reporters are interested in Jing Jing’s wedding, eh? The whole internet wants to attend! The most absurd thing? The wedding wasn’t even that impressive… or was I not paying enough attention? There is so much I have to say but I don’t know where to begin. The ice cold body found on the ground. It is a distinct difference from the warm and cheery you in my memory. One year ago, Xiao Gui passed away in his apartment. I blogged about it then but rereading that post, I felt that was insufficient to describe everything I wanted to talk about. One of my earliest idols. This was a banner I did in 2015. It was used as one of the headers for this blog. Xiao Gui was such a sincere, hardworking and down-to-earth person. The new arrangement of my (our) office calls for a bench or some narrow seating option (like, idk, a bench) along the wall opposite my desk. I went to target.com and found some options that are clearly all over the place. I could have just picked one but that’s exactly what their credit department wants me to do (I’m on to your tricks, Redcard). So I made one. I was originally going to make an upholstered bench, but that’s a pretty big time and finger pain commitment and I couldn’t decide on a fabric.
