Several months ago our mom found a listing for an old hospital that had been converted into apartments in Spring Grove, MN. Having been deep in the world of ancestry research for a while, she had been wanting someplace that represented her roots (our parents moved from Minnesota to the DFW area about six years ago). So, anyway, they closed on the hospital yesterday and it’s ready to be converted to a vacation home/guest house.
It needs a new room, new windows, possibly a new heater/radiators, and some touch-ups to the stucco. The plan is to create a separate wing with a kitchen, living and dining rooms, and bedroom for when my parents visit and then guest rooms with en suites throughout the rest.
Since I have been designated the official designer (not architect or contractor, mind you, and, no, I’m not really a designer), I started pinning before she even made an offer.
To keep costs down and keep the old feel, I thought we could do “minimalist farmhouse” with antiques we find on Craigslist, antique stores, flea markets, etc. in the area, clean white paint to compliment the old thin board wood floors, and just generally modern takes on classic lines.
