The Minneapolis City Council began the process of ending the city's Police Department as it currently exists. Immigrant families face challenges with remote learning
Distance learning for Minneapolis Public Schools and many other districts across the state launched a week ago, but not every family has been able to even log on.Many immigrant and refugee families are still navigating distance learning while also trying to find the right support needed to succeed online. Hennepin Co. public defenders try technology to keep clients from missing court dates
People who depend on public defenders in Hennepin County now have a different way to receive hearing reminders and to be able to communicate directly with their attorneys through a new partnership with a San Francisco-based company. The technology is designed to help people make their court dates and avoid being jailed, as well as save taxpayers money.The office of the Hennepin County Public Defender is working with a company called Uptrust, which has donated its services for a year. Fire at Minneapolis mosque found to be accidental
Officials say the cause of a fire at a mosque in Minneapolis is accidental in nature.Investigators found the cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction, police spokesperson John Elder said Monday .A neighbor saw the fire overnight Sunday at Tawfiq Islamic Center and called for help. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the entryway with minor damage.The fire battalion chief told crews found a broken window when they arrived with flames behind it.
