10 Wows from My Bike Audit of Trilith (including the Most Important)
Trilith Studios is now the second largest movie-making location in the United States. Think Marvel. Currently filming there — Superman: Legacy. Directly across the street from it is a planned development named Town of Trilith. If you are local to or familiar with Metro Atlanta, think Serenbe, but not. Think Avalon or Halcyon, but not. If you are Dan Cathy, visionary behind it and Chairman of Chick-fil-A, think Bentonville, Arkansas (self-proclaimed Mountain Bike Capital of the World, and home of WalMart, where he recently rode bikes and fell down the bike network rabbit hole), but better —...…Trilith Studios is now the second largest movie-making location in the United States. 5 Reminders for National Bike Month (and Beyond)
Happy National Bike Month! Here are five reminders for this month (and beyond): 1 — You are enough. Simply existing in public space — especially if you are a woman, person of color, or person with disabilities (all underrepresented on bikes in our public spaces) — is the biggest act of advocacy you can take. You do not need to do another damn thing than ride your bike however and wherever you want. 2 — Center joy. Do whatever you have to do to remind yourself why you ride a bike in the first place. Ring your bell. Make streamers. Paint your bike and helmet (I do!). Ride to stores, schools,...…Happy National Bike Month! Here are five reminders for this month (and beyond): 1 — You are enough. You Are Less than $300 Away from Your Own Folding Bike
Everyone loves this bike — including me! You’ll read many accounts in my book, Round America with a Duck, of amazing interactions I had as a result of this bike. I did not think it was going to make it across the USA with me — but it did! With flying colors (literally). And the moments continue! Sure enough, when I packed it up and unpacked it at the Greyhound bus station in Downtown Atlanta and Billy’s Truck Stop in Wildwood, Georgia for my recent WWOOF farm workstay on Lookout Mountain, folks gathered around. At my book signing at Trilith this past Saturday, there were oohs and aahs...…Everyone loves this bike — including me! I Almost Quit — and Now, Here We Are
I was digging up weeds, shaking out the soil from their roots, noticing the abundance of worms on this fertile piece of land that I call home, when the truck pulled up with my box of books. The driver put it in my outstretched arms and I felt the weight of it. These weren’t proofs or my initial author copies (both of which were exciting when they arrived as well). These were the books I would be sending to my hosts and family. This was the book that would be available globally starting in two day — Wednesday, March 20 — the one-year anniversary of when I left on this journey. This was...…I was digging up weeds, shaking out the soil from their roots, noticing the abundance of worms on this fertile piece of land that I call home, when the truck pulled up with my box of books.
