Cotswolds pub gets new owners after ill-health prompted 'discreet' sale
A Cotswolds pub and restaurant is now under new ownership. The Lamb in Great Rissington, near Bourton-on-the-Water, had been under family ownership for many years. But ill health meant it was discreetly put on the market and it has now been acquired by WH Brakspear & Sons, based in Henley in Oxfordshire. A refurbishment of the bar and dining areas is to take place. The aim is to offer a hub for the community and a place to stay and dine in for those travelling to the area from further afield. A Lancaster bomber co-pilot who survived 45 missions including D-Day has died aged 100. Peter John Gould's family believe he could have been the last surviving Lancaster bomber pilot. Great-grandfather Peter, who was part of the 97th squadron, was part of the Pathfinder Force on D-Day, fighting in Bomber Command. He received France's top military honour the Legion d'Honneur - for his squadron's actions during the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944.
