I grew up in an area where education wasn't regarded as a high priority. Manual labor jobs and meat works were the norm. Not to say that there is anything wrong with that message, it was just my truth growing up. A similar message was also portrayed in my school. I was often told by my teachers that if I ever dropped out of school I would be worthless to society. Education was the key right and how was I supposed to get one if I dropped out of school?
