The death occurred following a two-vehicle crash at 4:45 p.m. Saturday. It began when a Fremont County Sheriff’s deputy driving westbound on U.S. Highway 20 near St. Anthony spotted a small car drive eastbound going 100 mph. AMMON — An Ammon woman who pointed a gun at a man and a teen was in a lengthy standoff with police received a reduced charge Oct. 27. Stacy Dawn Quillen, 37, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and threat to do violence, and District Judge Dane H. Watkins sentenced the woman to 97 days in jail. However, 90 days were suspended, and with two days of the time already served, Quillen was going to have to serve five days in jail. COVID-19 restrictions in the jail altered the sentence because the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office will not take inmates on such short stints. The Power County Sheriff’s Office reports first responders found 41-year-old Ryan Thomas Smith struck by the Union Pacific Railroad train at around 8 p.m. His body was found on the tracks behind the Jet Stop truck stop. Thomas was from St. Louis, Missouri but traveling in the area, according to a news release. He had a dog with him who is still missing. Mia is a brown-colored pitbull.
