Houston's Thanksgiving Day parade canceled for first time ever
For the first time in its 71-year history, the n is canceling its annual Thanksgiving parade. Instead of the parade, the city is partnering with H-E-B to host a food distribution. Volunteers will be handing out groceries that prepare families for their own Thanksgiving feast. The H-E-B Family Thanksgiving Distribution will be on Saturday, November 21, 2020, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families in need are asked to go to the NRG Yellow Lot, located on Main between Murworth and McNee. Houston-area county judges react to Texas Governor's Executive order on reopening bars
Hours after Gov. announced that bars could reopen in the state, Judge Lina Hidalgo says not in her county. According to the governor's order, starting Oct. 14 at 50% capacity. Each Texas County Judge has the power to opt in to allow bars and similar establishments to reopen under Gov. Abbott's new order. Gov. Abbott gave the power to each County Judges to decide whether their county will opt in.Judge Hidalgo says Harris County cannot responsibly have further reopenings until the virus is under control.
