3-alarm building fire in downtown Burlington under investigation; apartment tenants displaced
A building fire in downtown Burlington prevented one popular bar from opening its doors for business Saturday night.Burlington Fire Department said they responded to 198 Pearl St. with reports of smoke and fire visible from the adjacent street, North Winooski Avenue.According to BFD, at around 12:30 in the afternoon, a third alarm was transmitted after bystanders said they saw people inside the building's apartment before firefighters got to the scene. Second suspected arson at Virtue Field after overnight fire in sportscaster booth
UVM Police Services are investigating what's now the second fire set at Virtue Field in just two weeks. Officers responded around 2:45 Sunday morning after someone reported a fire at the field. UVM Police Services said officers quickly found the fire in the sportscaster's booth and were able to put it out successfully. Investigators believe the fire was set deliberately, and said it may be related to the suspected arson of an equipment shed on April 20.
