(That being said, actual case rates in the city could be as much as six times higher than reported, .)In one census tract in the Bayview neighborhood, for instance, nearly 18% of residents have tested positive for COVID-19. About 2 miles northwest, a tract in Noe Valley has seen only 1.6% of its residents test positive for the disease.The Bayview census tract’s share of residents with a confirmed case of COVID-19 is more than 10 times higher than that of the Noe Valley tract. If the tract were its own county, it would have the worst share of cases of any urban region in the country; the urban county with the highest share of infections, Miami-Dade, . (Some areas within Miami-Dade county, however, had much higher case rates than any part of San Francisco.)Another tract in the Bayview saw an even higher incidence of COVID-19 than the first — more than 25% of residents in this tract tested positive for the coronavirus. But that tract only has about 270 residents, so it’s harder to directly compare to more populous tracts.Overall, the map shows that residents of San Francisco’s southeast quadrant, which includes parts of the Bayview, Hunters Point, the Mission, and Excelsior and Visitacion Valley, were much more likely to have had the corinavirus.
