It’s been a little over a year since I listened to any type of music that wasn’t glorying God. After I lost my daughter I struggled a lot with Mother’s Day. The once joyous day of celebration became a yearly reminder of what I lost. It was a reminder of how I carried a little girl for 6 months, could still feel the pain from my c-section and had nothing to show for it. It was a trigger to the grief I felt in 2016 when she, Shianne, died a month and a half after she was born. I know first hand what it feels like to be a book judged by its cover, but whether I’m wearing heels or a moo-moo, I love God the same. I know what you’re going to say. ‘The Bible says be modest.’ Very true. But what is modesty? I always wondered where people got the idea that to be modest meant to be nun-like. Unlike many others, I don’t believe that being modest means to disassociate from feminine things that make us feel good as women like makeup and fashion. Modest doesn’t mean boring.
