Skating is a quintessential part of our Canadian winters, and one that I love. I’ve been thinking a lot about writing a letter to my younger self since I started binge-watching The Crown. It’s one of the latest Netflix originals that started this month. I’m quite taken with Queen Elizabeth. Like me, the character lost her father in her twenties. I find it interesting how she both honours him and learns to live without him, at the same time.  Elizabeth processes all of these emotions as she assumes the role of the Queen of England. I, on the other hand, got to wallow around and wonder how I could possibly go on. With the pressure of working full-time, managing a household, growing a business and finding a little outdoor time, I’m usually spent every day. Time for myself is on the list, but let’s face it, I am usually giving my time away to help others instead of filling my own cup. I spend time every day telling my kids to use their words, but when I get into the this-this-this funk of getting it all done, I forget to use my own. Little things like spreading gratitude is important.
