NWT Youth Parliament a success for Tuktoyaktuk’s Miley Wolki
Miley Wolki has seen the effects of the NWT’s housing crisis first-hand in her home community of Tuktoyaktuk. All three ice roads in Beaufort Delta now on closure notice
All three ice crossings in the Beaufort Delta are now on closure notice. An update was published by the GNWT on May 5. As of 11:03 a.m., the Peel River Ice Crossing is on 72 hours notice. The Mackenzie River Ice crossing and the access road to Tsiigehtchic are both on 48 hours notice. “Depending on weather conditions the Ice Bridges may close with little or no notice,” reads the notice. “Low clearance vehicles are not recommended to travel on the Peel and Mackenzie River ice crossings as well as the Tsiigehtchic access ice crossings at this time. “Historical Statistics show the...… All three ice crossings in the Beaufort Delta are now on closure notice. Inuvik RCMP conduct early morning search as part of drug investigation
A home on Bonnetplume Road was subject to an early morning police search. Inuvik RCMP say they acted on a search warrant early May 5, 2024 with the assistance of the Northwest Territories Emergency Response Team. The warrant was part of a larger drug trafficking investigation by the police. “This incident is still under investigation and there may an increased police activity in the area throughout the day,” said media relations officer Cpl. Matt Halstead. “As the investigation is on-going, no further information is available at this time. East Three School’s second annual Alfred Moses Memorial Five-on-Five Basketball Tournament hit the courts April 12 and 13 in Inuvik, drawing athletes from across the Beaufort Delta.
