More than 250 dancers from nine northern B.C. studios compete May 5 - 11 The BC Annual Dance Competition got underway at the Lester Centre for the Arts in Prince Rupert Sunday, May 5, with solo categories in the morning and afternoon and group categories in the evening. The 2024 competition features nine studios from Prince Rupert, Fort St. John, Prince George, Quesnel, Hazelton, Terrace, Kitimat and Haida Gwaii. City council declares May 5 National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S+ people in Prince Rupert A sacred fire, red dress walk, community gathering and art show are planned for May 5, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S), also known as Red Dress Day.
