Hi friends! Let’s cue the end of a blogging hiatus. Those are necessary sometimes. A hiatus. I didn’t exactly make a conscious decision to take a break from blogging the last few months. Rather, life happened. I got busy. My time management skills slipped a bit and if we’re being honest, as we always should be, I lost a little motivation. A few days ago Hailey asked if we were doing the Christmas Eve gift this year thinking she normally saw it under the tree by then. My initial reaction was so heartfelt; I love that she looks forward to this gift and that it’s become a family tradition for us. I had a colleague who, when talking about the stages of growing children, insisted that one stage was not better then the next–just different. I, as a young mother with my first child, disagreed. I loved the playfulness of 2, the personality of 3, the independence of 4, the self-assertiveness of 5. Then I had my second child and saw the wisdom of her words. My second child’s milestones feel bittersweet. Crawling means more fidgeting when I hold her for too long. Walking means the end of baby snuggles. Every stage is just different. I think about 2020 in the same way.
