I recently did a story on the 10 Best Small Town Cafes in North Dakota.  You can read more about that here.  I took in hundreds of calls on the air, and tabulated votes on our app, and social media pages. I've run across a couple of maps of late that basically show North Dakota as a punch line to a joke! I've never been one of those people who gets my feathers in a ruffle over nothing.  I can take a joke, and I like to give it back too. I do get a little defensive however when people take potshots at our state of North Dakota. You have to admit though, the map above is pretty funny.  This first map talks about how we have nothing to see in North Dakota.  I've heard plenty of people say, "We have nothing to do in North Dakota." One Hollywood celebrity is betting on North Dakota to be a "Safe Haven" if all hell breaks loose. A place where you and your family could wait out an apocalypse of some kind?  North Dakota seems like a good place to go, providing it's not a nuclear war.  We all know if a nuclear war broke out, there wouldn't be much left of our state.  If you need a refresher, here's that FEMA map showing how much of North Dakota would be blown to smithereens. In a non-nuclear situation, North Dakota could be a pretty good place to hide out.
