Pulaski County designated COVID-19 red zone
SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - Pulaski County is now a COVID-19 red zone.Officials say the county may have been a red zone already, but delays have led to them just now meeting the requirements. Pulaski County has averaged about 50 cases per 100,000 people.The numbers show the virus spreading in places of worship, schools and businesses. LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Kentucky state senator says it’s time to raise the commonwealth’s minimum wage.Senator Reggie Thomas says he is pre-filing legislation to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour in increments over the next 5 years.Currently, at $7.25 an hour, Kentucky’s minimum wage has not changed in 13 years, but Thomas says it’s time for the poorest workers in the state to get a raise.Thomas is proposing raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, a little at a time. Federal judge rules against Governor Beshear's travel ban
A federal judge has ruled against Governor Andy Beshear's travel ban.The governor told Kentuckians not to travel outside of the state unless for work, health or other essential reasons. He even told people from other states if they came into Kentucky they had to quarantine for 14 days.It’s 18 pages long, but the order from the US district judge says Governor Beshear’s travel ban does not pass constitutional muster. It says those restrictions infringe on the basic right of citizens to engage in interstate travel.
