Minneapolis police deputy chief demoted for 'white boys' comment | City Pages
Art Knight has a problem, and it is that he sometimes says things that are a little too true for his own good.Back in January, Knight, a 28-year veteran of the Minneapolis Police Department, was testifying to the City Council about police de-escalation tactics and the use of body cameras. Speaking in a less-charged, pre-George Floyd moment, Knight "3 to 6 percent" of the people on the force shouldn't be."I'll be the first one to say that," Knight said. "We have some members on this force that shouldn't be there." The first and the last, apparently. Department spokesman John Elder later...…Art Knight has a problem, and it is that he sometimes says things that are a little too true for his own good.Back in January, Knight, a 28-year veteran of the Minneapolis Police Department, was testifying to the City Council about police de-escalation tactics and the use of body cameras. Gun-loving Minnesota Republican Donald Raleigh's ultra-violent cartoons also suck, artisically | City Pages
Donald Raleigh's campaign website doesn't mention one of the other websites he owns, one with a fairly distinctive URL: . These days, the site looks like a dusty relic from another era, as if someone made a website 20-some years ago, then immediately lost interest and abandoned it. There's a single blog post (authored by "donraleigh," and published in December 1997) about why people may choose to conceal carry a firearm, and how the mystery of who's packing is a "stong deterrent to crime." The post signs off with the (bizarrely capitalized) tagline "Remember, a Gun Never Solves a...…Donald Raleigh's campaign website doesn't mention one of the other websites he owns, one with a fairly distinctive URL: . Duluth Pack welcomes Ivanka Trump — but not Facebook blowback | City Pages
On Monday, Ivanka Trump will visit Duluth Pack, the popular outdoors-y gear company that's operated out of its current location for more than 100 years. She's not there to shop. Ivanka's aesthetic doesn't exactly jibe with Duluth Pack's; we can't picture her camping, nor wearing a purse that retails for less than $100. (On the other hand, Don Jr. might be interested in their for use when he plays Army man.)Ivanka will instead be there to watch Duluth Pack's owner Tom Sega sign the White House's "Pledge to America's Workers," a workforce training initiative that's about as meaningful as that...…On Monday, Ivanka Trump will visit Duluth Pack, the popular outdoors-y gear company that's operated out of its current location for more than 100 years. She's not there to shop. Warrant: 'Umbrella Man' of Minneapolis was a Hells Angels biker inciting 'racial unrest' | City Pages
The video of a mysterious man smashing up windows at a Lake Street AutoZone during George Floyd protests went massively viral, and led to much speculation about the identity and motivations of the "Umbrella Man."The most popular notion asserted that the guy reducing glass to shards for no clear reason was a cop, and later online sleuths zeroed in on a single St. Paul Police Department officer. Two weeks after controversy over a shirt , the department commander who posted it to Facebook has been reassigned and effectively demoted.Kim Lund Voss made the announcement on her Facebook page, the same place she'd seen fit to share (albeit briefly) the image of a shirt that contained an incorrectly spelled word and an unofficial motto quickly judged offensive toward crime victims.
