BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Starting this week, vouchers for free broadband internet for school students in Alabama start going out.Michelle Roth with the Alabama Cable and Broadband Association has been working closely with state leaders to roll out the Alabama Broadband Connectivity for Students program which gives free internet access for families with students on free or reduced lunch.Roth tells us almost 300,000 vouchers for free internet for families should start hitting mailboxes this week. Alabama leads nation with tornado warnings
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A new map shows that Alabama leads the nation right now in tornado warnings.Multiple tornado warnings filled our TV screens Wednesday as mother nature kept the First Alert Weather team on its toes.Alabama has seen dozens of tornado warnings since January, according to the Iowa Environmental Mesonet map measuring those storms through today. That map shows 43 but the National Weather Service says it’s 60 so far. COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Ala. drastically declining
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - We are seeing a dramatic decline in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.Statewide in the past seven days, new COVID-19 cases are down a little over 30% with hospitalizations down about 25%.
