Popsons burgers has bid farewell to its Market St. location, but locals won’t have to venture too far for a double cheeseburger.Popsons has moved inside Teeth bar in the Mission where it will now run kitchen operations. Owner Alvin Garcia said the move has been helpful on many fronts."I brought my team back to work and it’s giving me something to do in the meantime," Garcia said.In a recent conversation, Garcia was candid about the Market St. closure, sharing that it had been unsuccessful despite its initial popularity when it first opened in 2016."We failed as a business on Market Street," Garcia said. "Wrong timing, wrong neighborhood, many factors played into it [and] it just didn’t work out for us, so we closed at the end of March."ALSO:&nbsp;A couple of weeks later, Garcia reached out to Mark DeVito, a partner of Teeth bar, and said the two had struck a deal. According to Garcia, Teeth bar wasn’t being used when he reached out to DeVito. The bar had been temporarily closed amid shelter-in-place orders, and Garcia said the move had been helpful for DeVito to make rent.With Popsons in the kitchen, Garcia said customers can expect to find similar menu items at Teeth and that a forthcoming brunch option will be added. Popular bar snacks will include wings and “totchos,” a tater tot-nacho dish.On Friday, the patio at Teeth will also reopen for al fresco dining. Having access to a patio is one perk, according to Garcia, but so is a storefront window that will be used for takeout orders.ALSO:Popsons return to the Mission is also a bit of a homecoming.When it first emerged into the burger scene, Popsons began as a pop-up in the Mission District. On its opening night, a group of 400 guests turned out, according to a 2016 article by . By May of that same year, Popsons moved to the location at 998 Market St., which closed in March 2020.For Garcia, the move inside Teeth gave him the opportunity to keep many of the staff who have been with him since day one. The future of Popsons is uncertain and Garcia isn’t sure if the business will ultimately remain inside Teeth. The option to move to another brick and mortar depends on what decision stakeholders make."For now, the most important thing was to get people back to work," Garcia said.
