Gymnastics school owner selling family home to try to keep gym open amid pandemic
Michelle Klimesh said that Diablo Gymnastics had its best financial year ever in 2019.2020 couldn’t look more different.Instead, the business owner is doing everything she can to keep the San Ramon business running, including selling her great-grandfather’s house in Iowa, which has been in her family for generations.“Thank God I was so financially conservative,” Klimesh said. “Most gymnastic schools are like restaurants, and if I had to guess they aren’t going to make it through the pandemic. 262 lightning strikes spark wildfires in Northern California
Thunderstorms that produced over 260 lightning strikes sparked at least four over the weekend in Siskiyou County, Cal Fire officials said. All the fires are contained as of Monday morning.The summer began on Saturday afternoon, with light rain around 2:30 p.m. and thunder accompanying it by late afternoon. Siskiyou County, home of Mount Shasta, is one of California's northernmost counties, sharing the border with Oregon. Derailed train blocks intersections in Emeryville
EMERYVILLE (BCN)The vehicle railroad crossings at 65th, 66th and 67th Streets in Emeryville, adjacent to Shellmound Street, reopened Sunday evening, about five hours after a Union Pacific freight train derailed there, Emeryville police said.Those crossings were fouled when six cars of a UP freight train - three empty tank cars and three refrigerated boxcars - derailed at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday just south of the Powell Street bridge over the tracks.UP spokesman Tim S.
