It is critical to identify naming standards for attributes.
An atomic attribute is one that represents on a single fact.
An attribute is non-atomic if
it could have multiple values for one occurrence the object (for example, an employees has more than one skill)
a single value represents more than one fact
“Smart Attributes” pack more than one attribute value into a single value
Attributes are used for different purposes by different users
For each occurrence of the record, must there always be a value for the attribute?
For each occurrence of the object, can there be only one value for the attribute?
Must the attribute’s value be different for each occurrence of the entity?
