The City of Farmington Hills recently completed a legacy wall for the new Farmington Hills Community Center which opened in June.The community center, nicknamed The Hawk, is housed in the former Harrison High School. The city purchased the school from Farmington Public Schools in 2018, according to a press release from the city of Farmington Hills.Before the school closed its doors in 2019, a legacy committee of staff, parents, students, and community members raised funds to help preserve the school’s history at the community center. The committee and the City of Farmington Hills worked together on the legacy wall.Visitors to the community center can learn about Harrison High School’s heritage as they view a historical timeline and access an interactive screen to view yearbooks and more. Farmington Public Schools art teacher Scott Brazeau created a Hawks in Flight sculpture for the legacy display.The Harrison legacy wall can be viewed in person at the community center, 29995 W. 12 Mile Road, and online at harrisonhawks.touchpros.com.The city’s other community center, the Costick Center, is still in use for senior programs.For more information, visit fhgov.com/Activities/The-Hawk/Home.aspx or call 248-699-6700.
