These treats give the idea of making mud pies a whole new meaning!These are great fun to make…and great fun to eat!Just ask my boys…who have gone through about 4 double batches of them since Jayme sent me the recipe!As Jayme put it…“Sometimes we eat them warm right out of the pan…sometimes we eat chill them and then eat them…but mostly…we just EAT them!”Perfectly said!You have to try these! They are a great snack to have on hand in the fridge. And they really do just take about five minutes to make.Mudballs1/4 cup peanut butter1/4 cup honey1/4 cup wheat germ1/2 cup oats1/4 cup chocolate chips1/4 cup sesame seedsCook the peanut butter&nbsp;and honey over low heat until melted. Add remaining ingredients. When cool enough to handle roll into oohey gooey mud balls.Have fun! My hubby can have oats:(ReplyWe love this recipe. The first time I made it I misread the recipe and added sunflower seeds instead of sesame seeds and they were still delicious! We like to coat ours in coconut. We take them when we are traveling-they keep very well in the cooler, and my children (and husband) can more easily resist temptations while we are out when the know that these are in the cooler waiting!ReplyI made one batch of these last night and they’re already gone . . . so, I made two batches tonight! Like others, I replaced the wheat germ with flax meal. I added a little salt (about 1/8 tsp per batch), since my peanut butter doesn’t contain any and the recipe seemed to need a little to work with the sweet flavor. For my second batch tonight, I popped up a little amaranth and added it in place of half of the flax meal. They’re yummy that way, too! It’s obviously a very flexible recipe! I didn’t have wheat germ, so I subbed flax meal, and used 100% baking chocolate (the bar you find in the baking section of the grocery store) that I’d run through a food processor until it was almost powder. They were very good!ReplyVery good. I also substituted flax seed for the wheat germ so that I could share with a friend who is gluten free. My only problem with this recipe is that it makes WAY to few mudballs. (Especially since I will have to share with the rest of the family! haha)ReplyThese sound good! One question (sorry if this is a dumb question): do you melt the chocolate chips? I wasn’t sure if you melt the PB and honey and then just throw the solid chips in there and start rolling, or if the chocolate chips are supposed to be melted first.
