EAU CLAIRE (WQOW)- The City of Eau Claire and Eau Claire County are considering a local mask mandate, which would only go into effect if the current state-wide mandate is not extended.Both the Eau Claire County Committee on Administration and City-County board of health voted in a joint meeting Tuesday to recommend the ordinance to the city council and county board, who will both take up the ordinance individually.City-County Health Director Lieske Giese said this ordinance would be almost identical to the current state-level mandate, which is set to expire on January 19. There would be a $200 fine for violating the ordinance, which Giese said mirrors language in the state mandate.
