The officer self-quarantined upon his return and has not returned to work, an OPD spokesperson said.An Omaha firefighter has also tested positive. He contracted the virus while he was furloughed, 6 News learned, so he didn't infect any other firefighters. It is not yet clear whether the officer or the firefighter were included among the cases announced by the county earlier on Thursday.Two new cases in Sarpy County Two new cases of COVID-19 have been as of Thursday night, the department announced in a press release.This brings the total number of cases in the department's jurisdiction to 10.Contact investigations are underway to assess potential exposures. There are now eight cases in Sarpy County and two in Cass County.Two cases in the Hastings areaAdams County's official Facebook post reported one new case to be a man in his 40s who is currently hospitalized and in isolation. The second new case is a man in his 50s who lives in Colorado but spent time in Adams County; he is currently hospitalized and in isolation in Adams County, but will be counted in Colorado and not added to Nebraska's tally, according to standard epidemiological practices.Three new cases in the Kearney area, a Kearney County man in his 20s is currently self-isolating; and two Buffalo County residents — a woman in her 80s and a man in his 90s — are currently hospitalized.No details on CDHD's 2 cases in its jurisdiction — Hall, Hamilton, and Merrick counties — but had no further details available. Iowa confirms 34 more coronavirus cases, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds' office said Thursday that an additional 34 cases of coronavirus were confirmed across the state.The new report from the Iowa Department of Public Health brings the state's total to 179 positive cases, according to the news release from the governor's office. The IDPH report indicated the following locations and age ranges for the newest identified cases:The State Hygienic Lab in conjunction with other labs in the state have also reported 2,975 negative test resulst in Iowa to date.
