The kitchen closed on Nov. 1, due to a lack of volunteers, and from safety concerns due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On Friday, the Soup Kitchen announced they had received the National Dislocated Worker Grant via the Idaho Department of Labor. The grant is aimed at assisting people who have lost employment due to COVID-19 or are long-term unemployed individuals. The Idaho Falls Soup Kitchen was approved to bring on five people to work at the Soup Kitchen Monday through Friday, with pay, until March 2021. But before they can open they need to hire the employees.
