Workers hired for the temporary door-to-door positions will begin training at the end of July and and start work in mid-August.The bureau needs to fill 1,100 positions in Los Angeles County to work in the west San Fernando Valley/Woodland Hills/Malibu area at a pay rate of $25 an hour. Another 2,200 workers are needed to canvas Riverside County ($17 an hour) and 3,700 are needed for San Bernardino County ($17 an hour).The work will last six to eight weeks, based on current response rates and the number of non-responsive households that may require follow-up visits.
