No substance and lots of berating Sanders for being in the 1%, making it seem like being in the 1% disqualifies you from writing and supporting policy that benefit others.

This is a blatant 'Hit Piece' on Bernie Sanders, but more specifically, it's a 'Hit Piece' on the political concept of democratic socialism. The author questions why Bernie doesn't redistribute his income, but Bernie's wealth distribution stance has to do with taxes and how their being spent on programs that don't help raise up the middle class and protective the worst off in our society. Author Emily Zanotti is attacking the lowest paid politician in our country, and the politician that's done more than anyone else to prove that special interest group donations are unnecessary.

Obvious hit piece and smear.
This piece makes so many stupid assumptions its nauseating. Shapiro and crew have read Bernies platform. They KNOW he isnt anti capitalism and they know his policies arent summarized by "take from the rich and give to the poor". They know that this kind of framing is incorrect and they use it anyways. Because this is about convincing the readers that their preconceived biases are correct. So they keep saying over and over "hes in the top 1%. top 1%. top 1%".
POINT BEN?
There is none. Theyre just working off the assumption that someone who pushes for the policies that bernie pushes for shouldnt be wealthy. Which is obviously incorrect. In terms of total wealth accumulated Bernie is barely making a dent with a couple mill.
Theyre trying to undermine bernies anti rich rhetoric by saying he is part of the mega rich. Except he still isnt even remotely close to the people he rallies against AND if he was he would still be correct on the policy.
The smear is made even more clear by bringing up Bernies 3rd house.
They bring it up briefly saying he bought a 3rd house. BUT they leave out ALL of the nuance behind that point. They leave out that Janes parents passed away and willed the couple a 400k home in Vermont that they then sold to afford the lakehouse. With that information in mind a lakehouse suddenly doesnt seem so lavish and unattainable right?
Well Shapiro and crew dont want you to know that. They want to you accept that bernie is a socialist and that because he generates income and buys products in the economy that hes a hypocrite and cant be trusted. That is the driving point behind this article. They leave out the rhetoric that the less reputable right wing smear blogs like Young Cons would include. But thats only so they have plausible deniability when called out on their smear. In reality this is the same exact smear article as all those other right wing blogs with the same biased driving point behind it.
