Incumbent Sen. Joni Ernst had an explanation Thursday. "The Democrats want this seat back so heavily, I mean they're going to invest heavily in this state," Ernst said. "Chuck Schumer has made this a number one target for his campaign to take back the Senate." The most recent Des Moines Register Iowa Poll had Greenfield ahead 46% to 43%. "I think it's a good sign for Greenfield, but it's certainly not determinate of where this race will end up," said Dennis Goldford, KCCI political analyst. Ernst said she will continue to focus on small businesses, getting employees back to work, farmers, ethanol and bio-fuels, and rural health care industries.The Greenfield Campaign said in a statement, "Between her lead in the last four consecutive polls and her record-breaking fundraising there's no denying that Theresa has the momentum in Iowa's U.S. Senate race. While Theresa is working around the clock to meet and listen to Iowans virtually in every corner of the state during this pandemic, Sen.
