We'll see that sunshine all day today, boosting temperatures," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Samuel, live on WWJ Thursday morning. "We'll reach the lower 90s this afternoon; 92° expected specifically — and that'll be the hottest temperature so far this year."Samuel said temps will drop overnight to a more comfortable 69°, but the respite won't last long.AccuWeather RealFeel&nbsp;temperatures will approach 100° over the holiday weekend."There's more hot weather in the forecast Friday through the weekend," Samuel said. "We'll have highs in the lower 90s tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday — it should be rain-free as well&nbsp;— and the heat stays with us for a good chunk of next week."In fact, looking at the daily AccuWeather forecast, there's a chance that the Detroit area won't see a high under&nbsp;90° until July 12. (Scroll down for a closer look at the forecast).Knowing people will be out and about for the&nbsp;July 4th&nbsp;weekend, the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD) is urging residents to mind the weather conditions, and take steps to stay safe.&nbsp;“Extreme heat can be life-threatening,” said Capt. Kevin Sweeney, deputy state director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and commander of the MSP/EMHSD. “By taking some precautionary steps, you can minimize your risk of heat-related injury and help those who are most affected by severe heat.” &nbsp;To prevent heat-related injury:Always remember that if it feels&nbsp;hot outside to you, it's hot outside for your pets, too. Make sure to provide plenty of water and shade for pets when they're outside, and bring them inside when possible. You&nbsp;should never leave pets (or people) in vehicles, even with the windows rolled down, and even for just a few minutes. Those few minutes&nbsp;could be deadly.&nbsp;Something else to keep in mind: The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says sunny days and a lack of rain have resulted in elevated fire danger going into the weekend.
