While labeled as opinion, this article doesn't provided additional links or evidence to support their opinion. Calling gun advocates 'gun extremists' and using the phrasing 'because it blows their baloney into a million pieces' goes to show the quality of this article.

This is properly labeled as an opinion piece, but that doesn't mean that the argument the author puts forth is automatically invalid. Yes, the author at times uses sensational language and mischaracterizes gun owners, but his argument about the original intention of the 2nd Amendment is accurate and something I often think about, especially when it goes overlooked by both sides in the national gun control debate. This article is worth reading to see how far today's understanding of the 2nd Amendment has come since its original inception and purpose.
