Short article explains that there was some black fungi found in Chernobyl's reactor that feeds on radiation - rather than speculating on what kind of technologies could be created around the fungi, the author begins claims there could be some relative of the fungi in space. "Eating" radiation seems to be a mischaracterization of what the fungi is doing. It's harvesting the energy released to grow, but it's not consuming it the way that the word eating seems to convey. It doesn't seem like the fungi lessens the amount of radiation being emitted, it just uses it like plants do with UV radiation.

The article is somewhat surface level, but it does well not to over speculate and does present the known facts responsibly. This is a fascinating story and I hope they continue with follow-ups as more becomes known. Just imagine if we discover that there's a fungus that can eat and therefore clean up radioactive waste sites!
