Carmen Forman After facing criticism for an upcoming rally in Tulsa that would occur the same day as a holiday that marks the end of slavery, President Donald Trump has announced he has pushed his rally back a day.&nbsp;In a Friday evening, Trump announced he was rescheduling the date out of respect for the Juneteenth holiday on June 19, which is observed by many Black communities around the country.&nbsp;"We had previously scheduled our #MAGA Rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for June 19th – a big deal," Trump tweeted. "Unfortunately, however, this would fall on the Juneteenth Holiday. Many of my African American friends and supporters have reached out to suggest that we consider changing the date."Trump said he was honoring requests to postpone the rally. He also bragged that more than 200,000 people had already requested tickets to the free event.&nbsp;Awareness of the holiday has started growing nationally, if only recently. Many major companies announced this week they would make Juneteenth an official company holiday. A majority of states have marked the day as a state holiday or day of observance.&nbsp;Earlier this week, Oklahoma Democratic Party Chairwoman Alicia Andrews, who is Black, called Trump's plan to host a rally the same day as Juneteenth near the site of the Tulsa Race Massacre a &nbsp;Members of the Oklahoma gathered Friday at the Greenwood Cultural Center in Tulsa to criticize the date of the president's rally and educate Oklahomans about Juneteenth. The cultural center at the heart of Tulsa's former "Black Wall Street" teaches visitors about the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot.Gov. Kevin Stitt applauded the president's decision to delay his Tulsa rally.&nbsp;“I am thankful President Trump recognizes the significance of June 19 and has chosen to move his campaign rally out of respect to Oklahomans and the important Juneteenth celebrations," Stitt said. The governor has said he's looking forward to hosting the president on June 20.&nbsp;Trump's rescheduled rally will take place on June 20 at the BOK Center in Tulsa.
