Well Sourced

[Full disclosure: I've been previously interviewed by fellow journalist John Knefel for Inverse.] An interesting article about a fascinating subject. Well-written with aptly applicable quotes and commentary. As can be expected in a piece such as this, a light dusting of speculative opinion. This does not, however, detract from the read-worthiness of the piece. Good analysis of the study referenced by the Author sans bias. The links, particularly to the full study (in PDF format) are very helpful. Also, the inclusion of the Abstract at the end is a commendable touch. A decidedly worthwhile read. Four stars!

Balanced

I'm not sure if emotional intelligence is underrated as the headline claims. It became a real question inside companies all over the world and usually is part of individual development plans as a valuable soft skill. It's a trend in some workspaces, and the way it's being evaluated is already an issue for some psychologists too. The article doesn't add too much to the mainstream knowledge about EQ, and I believe it should explore better the research methods, and discoveries and insights related to this specific study.

Investigative

This is a great investigative look into the role emotional intelligence plays in students' success and tet scores. I think many people will read this and inherently know it to be true, but the author also provides lots of sources, including the source study referenced throughout the piece. Very little personal speculation mixed into the piece, which I appreciated.
