Cincinnati EnquirerView CommentsUpdate: The number of voting locations in Boone County and Campbell County has been updated.&nbsp;The COVID-19 pandemic has altered much of life, including how Kentucky's primary election will work this month.For the first time, Kentuckians will be able —&nbsp;like&nbsp;Ohioans have done for 15 years&nbsp;—&nbsp;to vote early by mail. Before the coronavirus pandemic, Kentucky was one of nine states .&nbsp;Previously, Kentucky only allowed absentee voting for a few reasons — if you were older, disabled, ill, a member of the U.S. Military, an overseas citizen, a student living outside of the county, among other exceptions.For this primary election, any registered voter can vote&nbsp;by mail.Monday is the first day&nbsp;Kentuckians can vote early&nbsp;if they made an appointment ahead of time, but only&nbsp;if they need to use a voting machine equipped for the disabled&nbsp;or are unable to receive a ballot by mail.&nbsp;Kentucky's primary elections are set for Tuesday, June 23.&nbsp;The original date for the primaries was May 19.&nbsp;Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Gov. Andy Beshear and Secretary of State Michael Adams announced in March that it would be&nbsp;pushed back.The registration deadline has already passed. All registered voters&nbsp;will be able to vote by and there will be&nbsp;on Election Day.Northern Kentucky has historically had some of in the state. Last year, the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce launched Vote NKY, an initiative&nbsp;to residents to participate in elections.&nbsp;In the 2019 gubernatorial race, more .&nbsp;In all three counties ,&nbsp;which helped Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear&nbsp;"We are strongly encouraging all voters to vote at home via absentee ballot during the pandemic in order to avoid the long lines on Election Day," said the chamber's Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications Kristin Baldwin in a statement. "Turnout in the last presidential primary was only 13-14 percent across Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties.”Now, Kentuckians will have more time to vote.Here's how it'll work.&nbsp;The Kentucky State Board of Elections created&nbsp;an&nbsp;online portal that allows voters to request an absentee ballot. Voters are expected to receive a postcard about it. That portal can also be found at&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;You can also check with your county clerk’s website to see how you can request an absentee ballot there.In Boone County,&nbsp;go to: In Kenton County, go to:&nbsp;In Campbell County go to:&nbsp;The deadline to request an absentee ballot is June 15.&nbsp;&nbsp;Voters should contact their county clerk to get information on the best location to drop off their ballots.&nbsp;In-person voting will still happen but polling sites will look different as a result of the pandemic.&nbsp;The window for in-person early voting, which is only available for people who are disabled or can't receive a ballot by mail,&nbsp;will be between June 8 and June 22. Check with your local county clerk on polling times.&nbsp;Chances are, your normal precinct won't be open. There will only be one or two voting locations in each Northern Kentucky county.&nbsp;Beshear has said that there will be a reduced number of polling locations in order to stem the spread of the coronavirus and decrease the number of poll workers needed.In Boone County, there are usually 63 precincts open to voters. On June 23, there will be two locations.Boone County Clerk Justin Crigler told The Enquirer the Board of Elections has talked about adding one or two more, but those have not been confirmed yet.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Usually, there are 105 precincts in Kenton County where voters cast their ballot.&nbsp;On June 23, only one will be open. This is the case for many counties in Kentucky, including Jefferson County, home to Kentucky's largest city, Louisville.&nbsp;The Northern Kentucky Convention Center will be the sole in-person voting location in Kenton County on Election Day. with free parking across the street in the county parking garage.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In this Northern Kentucky county, Election Day normally brings people to 67&nbsp;voting locations.&nbsp;This time, in-person voting will happen at .People can vote at:If you vote in-person instead of mailing in an absentee ballot, the Campbell County Clerk website urged caution in the midst in the pandemic.&nbsp;"Wear a mask and observe social distancing to protect our poll workers, your fellow citizens and yourself," the post read.&nbsp;Mainly, there's a lot of people who want U.S. Rep.
