They were joined by BGCDC CEO Michael Johnson, Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, state Rep. Shelia Stubbs, Downtown Madison’s Tiffany Kenney, players from Forward Madison, and other protesters for the tribute.Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney said he hopes it's the start of real action and the end of hollow talk. "Today is I hope a new beginning," said Sheriff Mahoney. "I understand the pain. I understand the anger. I understand the frustration of only words."Acting Madison Police Chief Vic Wahl says he finds it to be a symbol of unity. "Just to show that we're all living in the same community. We all have the same goals and we all want the same thing," said Wahl. "It's just a matter of how we get there and so to demonstrate that sort of big picture unity I think is important for all of us to have done."
