And you can see horrible, horrible tragedies. And I know it’s something that police officers detest.”DeWine laid out these proposals after speaking generally about the need to fight racism and “inequality of opportunity” in Ohio."While there are no simple solutions, all of us, I think, have an obligation to be a positive voice in advancing change for all those who are marginalized,” he said. “And we have an obligation to create equality and health, education, and economic opportunity for all our citizens.”It’s unclear how the Ohio House and Senate, both of which are controlled by Republicans, will receive DeWine’s proposals.This isn’t the first time DeWine has sought to impose new rules on law enforcement in response to civil unrest over a police-involved death.
