The DNR is asking that Wisconsinites continue to report turtle crossings for the Wisconsin Turtle Conservation Program. Reporting these turtles can help protect them and identify locations that are deadly for the reptile. All eleven turtle species in Wisconsin tend to breed in spring with their eggs placed on higher ground. However, once the eggs are laid there's a danger that they could be snatched up by predators. That's where you come in. If you find a turtle nest, it's important that you build a cage around the nest to protect the eggs. You can Turtles are also in danger when they're trying to find a place to lay their eggs. Many turtles must cross roads and are hit by vehicles when trying to cross. It's important to keep an eye out for these reptiles when driving, and report a crossing when you see one. You can report a turtle crossing “Together, we’re making a difference.
