This past Sunday, the Chiefs, a franchise who has seen a lot of ups and downs since its inception in 1963, triumphed over the San Francisco 49ers, an organization that has had historical success but otherwise has been mediocre the past decade. What started as a slow game, quickly picked up as Patrick Mahomes and the prolific KC offense scored 21 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to secure their first Lombardi in 50 years. 
Even though Philadelphia sports fans are touted as petty and aren’t ones to even acknowledge the success of another team, you can’t help but feel happy for Andy Reid, Shady McCoy, and the Kansas City Chiefs. 
Philadelphia, this was us two years ago. We were the team with the, what seemed like never-ending, Super Bowl drought. We were the team that was so close so many times while also having a smattering of sub .500 seasons. We were a team with Andy Reid, with the die-hard fans, with the city of loyalty. This was us. While Kansas City and Philadelphia are almost completely opposite culturally, you can’t deny the football connections between the two teams. Andy Reid, LeSean McCoy, Doug Pederson, even Nick Foles for god’s sake. 
Seeing two of my best friends, KC natives and die-hard Chiefs fans, with pure ecstasy on their faces as the final seconds wound down, I couldn’t help but think of February 4th, 2018, one of the greatest days of my life. I remember it clear as day, sitting in PJ Whelihan’s, wing sauce on my face and my heart pounding a mile a minute as the ball dropped from Gronk’s hands in the end zone. The whole place went absolutely ballistic and that energy translated four days later to the parade. I just remember feeling like the Eagles and the city of Philadelphia was unstoppable, a feeling that I so desperately wanted to feel yesterday, but alas I’m not from Kansas City.
Enjoy it KC because it’s a truly once in a lifetime kind of moment.
