AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers says his aim for next season is to play regular first-team football, whether that be with the Cherries or out on loan.
As reported by FourFourTwo, Travers earned his only two Premier League appearances to date in the club’s final two games of the season.
The 19-year-old conceded five times to Crystal Palace yesterday with two coming from Michy Batshuayi, Jack Simpson scoring past his own ‘keeper and Patrick Van Aanholt and Andros Townsend scoring one each.
However, the week previous he kept out Champions League hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur with a number of fine saves.
Manager Eddie Howe opted for the Irishman due to the struggles of both Asmir Begovic and Artur Boruc this season, and it remains to be seen whether either will still be at the club next season.
The Cherries have been linked with a move for Stoke City stopper Jack Butland, with Howe seemingly keen to refresh his goalkeeping department ahead of the 2019/20 season.
On his hopes for next year, Travers said:
I’ll do that (talk to Howe) in the off-season. We’ll have a bit of time off and it’s go from there, really. I’ve felt comfortable and confident out on the pitch in the last two Premier League games. It’s something I know I can do. Maybe I’ll get a bit of loan experience; I’ll just have to wait and see. But if the manager decides to give me a few more games I’m ready to play. I just want to keep going. I want to play more games. I still need to reflect on the season and take from that into the off-season. I need to come in pre-season, give 100 per cent, then it’s down to the manager.
