From its inception to its conclusion, the event promised a kaleidoscope of creativity, offering attendees a journey through painting, drawing, photography, digital art, and sculpture.Upon arrival, guests were greeted with a sumptuous array of culinary delights courtesy of the Southwest High School culinary arts program, setting the stage for an evening of cultural exploration and artistic appreciation. As they traversed the venue, their senses were enriched by the myriad of artworks on display, each a testament to the boundless imagination and ingenuity of the young minds behind them.Representing schools including William Moreno Junior High School, Holtville High School, and Central Union High School, the participating middle and high school students showcased their creative prowess with pieces that ranged from the whimsical to the profound. With no thematic constraints, these budding artists were free to explore an array of subjects and concepts, infusing their works with personal narratives and imaginative flair.Among the artists were Samantha German and Issac Ezure. German's monochromatic work "Breathe Slow, Breathe Life" in the painting/drawing category, is inspired by her love for art and her admiration for a beloved music artist, according to German. Meanwhile, Ezure said his ceramic creation, "Fire is Like Gold" is an exploration of life's fleeting beauty and intrinsic value, serving as a poignant reminder of the transient nature of existence.The festival also spotlights select artworks adorned with a distinctive purple ribbon, signifying their selection for exhibition and auction at the upcoming Foundation for Education's Autumn &amp; the Arts Fundraiser. The chosen pieces will contribute to funding scholarships for young artists.The crowning moment of the evening arrived with the commencement of the awards ceremony. From sculptures to digital art, the winners are celebrated for their ingenuity, originality, and technical proficiency.Jeanette Montaño, senior director of curriculum and instruction, engaged with some of the awardees live on stage, offering them a platform to share insights into their artistic process and inspirations as they received their well-deserved accolades.
