                         After his father had a rare tumor the size of a rugby ball removed from close to his spine, the man is getting ready for a 15-kilometer charity run. On August 1st, Arjan Dayal, 18, will participate in the fundraising challenge in Leicester's Victoria Park.In January of this year and in 2019 respectively, his father, Hardip Dayal, received two diagnoses of a Solitary Fibrous Tumor.Arjan is organizing a fundraiser for the hospital charity that supported the recovery of his father.In February 2019, Hardip, 45, received a diagnosis of a Solitary Fibrous Tumor.The small tumor, which can develop almost anywhere on the body, was located close to his spine and resembled a rugby ball in size.He underwent six months of MRI scans before being referred to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in Stanmore, London, for surgery to remove it.After that, a scan in January revealed another tumor in his vertebral column.He had a 16-hour procedure in April to remove the second tumor and rebuild his vertebrae.Arjan said, "Dad has really struggled with his health the last few years.".He is still recovering and getting stronger every day, but there is a chance that his full strength, mobility, and sensation won't come back. We will just have to wait and see how he does. ".Arjan decided to try raising £1,000 for the RNOH's charity after being so impressed by its facilities.He proclaimed himself to be "excited" to be running in his sponsored race.I generally keep myself in good shape, but for this I had to train a little harder because I've never run 15 kilometers continuously, he said.He added that he hoped his father would be able to watch some of his effort along with other family members and friends.Source link
