7:13 PM on May 19, 2020 CDTA Fort Worth bar director celebrated his 37th birthday over the weekend with a pair of warehouse parties that drew crowds of people despite ongoing restrictions on such gatherings as a result of the coronavirus.“I was bored, and there’s nothing else to do,” Corey Mobley .The parties Friday and Saturday night each drew hundreds of people to an undisclosed location where Mobley busted a COVID-19-themed piñata and groups huddled together for photos.Mobley is the founder of semi-regular turtle races at Whiskey Garden and throws an annual birthday party at the bar, where he is director of operations, the newspaper reported. With the bar closed because of COVID-19 concerns, Mobley had nowhere to commemorate his special day, so he decided to organize the warehouse gathering.He had no comment when asked whether doing so was irresponsible.“I feel like your body is going to be stronger if you’re out around people and — I don’t know,” Mobley said. “I don’t want to get into this politics stuff. Greg Abbott to reopen bars, which the governor announced Monday he would do — at 25 percent maximum capacity — starting Friday.“I’m tired of throwing warehouse parties,” Mobley wrote in the post, punctuated by several laughing-face emojis.Friday’s event apparently drew a police response because of noise, he told the Star-Telegram.
