(WHAM) — Each year, our Friday Night Rivals broadcast sponsor selects a scholar athlete to receive a $5,000 scholarship, and this year, we were surprised the winner, James Poligone, even had time in his schedule to pick up the check.Poligone's resume is impressive for anyone, let alone a senior at Fairport High School."Free time is few and far in between," he said.He's not kidding.His accomplishments? "I've been challenging myself for as long as I can remember academically," he said. "(It's easy) when you enjoy doing all them. I enjoy sports, being in the orchestra and being a part of everything."And that's why Poligone was the perfect recipient for Triple O's $5,000 scholarship award this year."As a high school football coach, I know the hard work and dedication it takes to be a scholar athlete," said Brad Herman, president at Triple O. "He's not only met those expectations, but absolutely exceeded them. It's clear Poligone was very deserving of the scholarship, but he didn't even know he won the award."It was a big surprise," he said. "It's really awesome, and really special. I'd like thank all of them because they really made this possible.
