Starring Kim Sun Ah as the protagonist Doh Jae Yi who is an attorney determined to find the masked man who raped her and escaped unscathed years ago, “Queen of Masks” is a riveting watch with formidable villains and dramatic twists that keep you guessing what the truth really is.
Betrayals, murders, sexual assault, drug use…… “Queen of Masks” has lots of dramatic elements that make it a nail-biting watch. 
The story started with 4 good friends Doh Jae Yi, Ju Yu Jeong, Yoon Hae Mi and Oh Yoon Ah at a hen party to celebrate Yu Jeong’s marriage to her fiancé. But this perfect night all went downhill after Jae Yi got raped in the fiancé’s hotel room by a masked man and the fiancé was later found murdered.
Oh Yoon Ah was jailed for murder eventually. But are the fellow three friends truly innocent?
This sets the stage for the future episodes set in current timeline where the three friends remained close and each became successful in their own right.
However their lives turned upside down after their former friend Oh Yoon Ah who was wrongly jailed for murder came back to confront them.
The viewer, like Doh Jae Yi, is kept in the dark about who really committed the murder. We are also left guessing if Jae Yi’s so-called good friends can be fully trusted as they all seem to have their own unspoken secrets and personal agendas.It was later revealed that each of them was present in the hotel room the night the murder was committed. Bits and pieces of what took place on that fateful night was slowly unveiled in each episode and we get to connect the dots together.
There is nothing more addictive than rooting for the protagonist to triumph over a formidable villain. 
And in this case, the villain is Song Je Hyeok who is truly a nasty piece of work as we are talking about a rapist who escaped unscathed and is unapologetic about what he did after his identity is exposed. 
In addition, he is unscrupulous, scheming, power-hungry and determined to continue wrecking the life of Doh Jae Yi who is going all out to expose him.
The characters are generally quite complex and morally grey in “Queen of Masks”. Everyone has their own skeletons in the closet and selfish desires to protect themselves from having their weakness exposed.
This makes the drama more interesting as you cannot fully guess what choice the character may end up making and whether good friends or allies may betray each other in the end to protect themselves.
