GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Madison Tomlinson is a local ultra-marathon runner who has already completed long-distance routes like Kokopelli Trail at 142 miles and Collegiate Peaks Loop at around 160 miles. After extensive preparation and planning, Tomlinson and her team started a multi-day journey that would take her across the Grand Valley on foot.Her run began at 4 AM from her home. She has been by Lunch Loops Trailhead and was even on Lands End Road and has taken Palisade Plunge, among others. Tomlinson has a team of around 15 people supporting her. Every 4-5 miles are checkpoints where she can grab a quick bite and water refills.We spoke to Tomlinson, and she told us her thoughts on what it was like to undertake such a challenge. “...It’s a pretty crazy thing to think about doing, and then you do it. It just shows us how capable as human beings we are and how we can do hard things.
