(KKCO) - Vote now for this week’s best play on the Western Slope.This week’s three candidates, as well as the voting poll can be found below.Brinton Spin &amp; ScoreThe first play from this week on the Western Slope takes us back to Monday night’s Boys Lacrosse game between Grand Junction and Fruita Monument. Second quarter Tigers with the lead. Sophomore Tristan Brinton working behind the cage when he pulls out a sweet spin move before cutting back inside and throwing the ball in the cage of the cage through contact as well. Some might call that an and 1 in basketball but in LAX that’s just good physical play from both sides. Brinton was involved with half the Tigers goals as he finished the game with 3 goals and 3 assists in Grand Junction’s 12-10 win over Fruita. Grand Junction earned the #18 seed in the 4A State Playoffs where they will play #15 Aspen in the first round on Tuesday.Oberg Long Distance GoalOur second Play of the Week nominee took place in Tuesday’s Montrose Vs. Central Girls soccer match. First half Red Hawks leading 1-0. Sophomore Mayce Oberg collects the loose ball beats two defenders and shoots from well outside the 18 yard box, it hits the crossbar and rolls into the back of the net for the goal. Oberg added 1 more goal to help Montrose pick up the 5-0 victory and finish the regular season unbeaten with a record of 13-0-2. Montrose earned the #1 seed in the 4A State Tournament where they will play #32 seeded Eagle Valley in the first round on Wednesday.Arrieta Acrobatic CatchThe third and final play from the Western Slope this week went down in Friday’s RMAC Softball Tournament game between CSU Pueblo and Colorado Mesa. Top of the 3rd Mavs trail 1-0. Pitcher Preslee Christensen deals, ball is popped up down the 3rd base line where Shortstop Myah Arrieta runs it down and makes the catch before slamming into the fence. The Grand Junction native’s catch helped the Mavs pick up the 4-2 win before being eliminated later in the day.
