Jump directly to the contentUS NewsWorld NewsUK NewsTHE brother of two boys shot in bed warned their mom she has "scarred everybody" after she was arrested on suspicion of their brutal murders.Tiffanie Lucas, 32, stood emotionless in court as she appeared via video link on Thursday, accused of killing her six and nine-year-old sons in cold blood.Little Jayden, nine, and his six-year-old brother Maurice, known as Peanut, were found covered in blood at their home in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, on Wednesday.They were rushed to Norton's Children's Hospital in Louisville with gunshot wounds but were later confirmed to have died.Lucas was arrested and charged with two counts of murder.Asked what he would say to her, Jayden's older brother Durrell Howard told CBS affiliate WLKY: "You scarred everybody with this one."You scarred everybody."Howard had been playing cards with the boys just days before they were shot and killed, describing their time together as "the best ever.""We just played a card game," he said."It was as simple as that and we had the best time."He said the boys' final weeks included trick-or-treating, spending time with their grandmother, and water balloon fights in the backyard.Howard and Jayden shared the same dad, who died in 2019, and after his death, Howard said he became more involved in the boys' lives.He claimed family members had voiced concerns over the boys' welfare over the years and had shared those concerns with the CPS."We would have taken them with open arms," he said through tears in his eyes.He also shared one of the regrets that has haunted him since learning of the little boys' deaths."We loved them so much. I should have did (sic) more," he said."If it came to me snatching the boys out of the house, I should have."And I will hold that on my back for the rest of my life. For both them boys."At the family home, toy trucks, teddy bears, candles, and flowers lined the doorstep with neighbors desperately paying their respects.Kimberly Smith, a mom-of-four who lives nearby, placed a stuffed bear and tiger in memory of the children.&nbsp;She told ABC affiliate WHAS11: "I knew I wasn't the only one feeling the pain for their families."I had to let them know, whether in spirit or not, and their family know, that we're praying for them. And hope they get through this."It's gonna be a long, hard road, but we're praying for them."The Bullitt County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 11 am on Wednesday and found Jayden and Maurice in bed, barely alive, alongside a gun.Mom Tiffanie Lucas had collapsed on the front lawn, according to reports.She was arrested and a mug shot taken at the jail showed her scowling and glaring at the camera in an orange jumpsuit.On Thursday, a judge declared her a danger to others and set her bond at $2 million.Lucas said nothing and stood with her arms folded across her chest.The mom will remain at the Bullitt County until Tuesday when she will return to court.Police have not released any further information about the boys' deaths or a possible motive.Those with any information about the shooting were asked to contact the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office at 502-543-7074.TopicsNEW STORIES ON THE SUNYOU MIGHT LIKERECOMMENDED FOR YOUMORE FOR YOU
